Canopy/Cockpit/Fuselage Covers:
Canopy, Cockpit, and Cockpit/Nose Covers for the Diamond D-Jet and Altaire protect upholstery and avionics from excessive heat, help prevent issues caused by leaking door and window seals, keep window surfaces clean, and reduce the risk of vandalism or theft. Each cover is custom-designed for the specific model and for the aircraft’s antenna and temperature-probe placements. Canopy Covers enclose the windshield, side windows, and canopy roof, attaching with adjustable belly straps and quick-release buckles, with optional designs that fasten to the fuselage using snap-heads. Cockpit and Cockpit/Nose Covers protect the windshield and cockpit side windows, include non-metal Delrin buckles for outdoor durability, come with a duffle bag, and can be trimmed to match aircraft colors with optional N-number imprinting.
All cover types are made from Silver Acrylic Sunbrella canvas and are fully lined with soft microfiber to prevent scratching. The medium-weight outer material is treated for water, UV, and anti-static resistance, while its reflective properties help reduce cabin temperatures to near-ambient on hot days. The covers repel water, ice, and snow while remaining breathable to allow trapped moisture to escape. The Canopy/Nose Cover combines full canopy protection with coverage extending forward over the nose, secured with belly straps and reinforced with shock cord in the hem for a tighter fit. These covers are commonly referred to as cabin covers, fuselage covers, canvas covers, or canopy caps.
Plugs and Protection:
Diamond D-Jet and Altaire Pitot Tube Covers, made from durable Naugahyde vinyl, slip over the entire pitot assembly and secure at the base with a Velcro strap, with a “Remove Before Flight” streamer attached; heat-resistant versions are available to prevent melting if pitot heat is activated, and tethered sets can be requested. Engine Exhaust Plugs are custom-fit for the aircraft’s exhaust openings, constructed from heavy-duty vinyl and filled with a sculpted urethane foam block that can be removed and dried using the built-in zipper, and include “Remove Before Flight” streamers and optional registration imprinting; they may be installed shortly after shutdown while the engine is still warm. Engine Inlet Plugs—also known as cowl plugs, intake plugs, cowl blocks, engine blocks, or engine bungs—are similarly custom-fit for the aircraft’s intakes, made from heavy-duty vinyl, foam-filled, equipped with a drying zipper and “Remove Before Flight” streamers, and available with optional N-number imprinting, though they do not include a storage bag.
Heat Shields and Sun Reflectors:
Cockpit Heatshields are interior sunshades designed to reduce heat inside the aircraft by using a semi-rigid composite of closed-cell foam with a silver Mylar finish. They stand securely within the window framing, fold flat for compact storage in the included sleeve, and may incorporate Velcro or suction cups depending on the design; for jets, they are offered with the white side facing outward to comply with manufacturer advisories against reflective inserts. While Heatshields provide an excellent short-term solution for cockpit overheating, an external fabric cover is recommended for long-term protection.
Light Weight Travel Covers:
The Diamond D-Jet/Altaire Travel Cockpit Cover protects the windshield and side windows while reducing heat damage to upholstery and avionics and preventing issues caused by leaking seals, debris, vandalism, and theft. It features non-metal Delrin buckles for rugged outdoor use, comes with a duffle bag, and can be trimmed in aircraft colors with optional N-number imprinting. Made from Silver Acrylic Sunbrella canvas and fully lined with soft microfiber, the cover is reflective, water-, ice-, and snow-repellent, UV-resistant, anti-static, and breathable—keeping cabin temperatures near ambient while preventing scratching. The Cockpit/Nose Cover provides the same protective benefits with extended coverage over the nose and uses the same Sunbrella/microfiber construction, rugged hardware, and customization options.
For aircraft that spend most of their time in a hangar or only need a cover occasionally, the Diamond D-Jet/Altaire Lightweight Travel Canopy Cover offers the same coverage area as the standard Canopy Cover but is made from very lightweight Silver Solution-Dyed Polyester. Lined only over the windshield to save weight, it folds into a compact size for easy stowage. This material is water-resistant and suitable for occasional outdoor use, while an ultra-light option is available for fitted hangar dust covers. For regular outdoor exposure, the heavier non-travel Sunbrella cover remains the best choice.
