Canopy/Cockpit/Fuselage Covers:
The Bell 230 Bubble Cover protects the entire canopy—including the windshield, skylights, and chin bubble—reducing damage from heat, leaks, and debris while helping prevent interior fading, avionics issues, vandalism, and theft. Made from Silver Acrylic Sunbrella canvas and fully lined with soft microfiber, the reflective, breathable cover is water-, ice-, snow-, and UV-resistant while preventing scratches. Features include reinforced patches at hinges, door handles, and windshield wipers, rope-hemmed top and bottom edges to prevent chafing, color-coded corners for easy installation, non-metal Delrin buckles, and sewn-in pockets for temperature probes and pitot tubes. The medium-weight material is treated for UV, water, and anti-static resistance, and testing shows it can reduce interior temperatures to near-ambient levels on the hottest days.
Engine/Prop Covers:
Blade Tie-Downs are “socks” that fit over rotor tips, securing with ropes or straps to the front cross tubes or any convenient point, while Rotor Hub Covers overlap Blade Covers for complete main rotor protection. Medium-weight Solution-Dyed Polyester Blade Covers cinch at the root with quick-release buckles and can be installed from the ground using a lightweight rope; Cold Weather Blade Covers add full-length zippers and optional deice “boots” for preheater systems. Engine Covers protect the swash plate, inlets, exhaust, and access areas, fastening securely around the rotor mast and tailboom with straps and Delrin buckles. Insulated Engine Covers use Solution-Dyed Polyester, 3M Thinsulate, and soft nylon lining to retain heat and support preheating. Tail Rotor Covers are one-piece designs enclosing both blades and hub. All covers are available in durable Silver Acrylic Sunbrella for year-round use or lighter Solution-Dyed Polyester for seasonal or occasional outdoor use, providing protection from sun, moisture, and cold weather.
Plugs and Protection:
Bell 230 Pitot Tube Covers (non-heat resistant) are made from durable Naugahyde vinyl and slip over the entire pitot assembly, securing at the base with a Velcro strap and including a “Remove Before Flight” streamer. Heat-resistant versions are available to prevent melting if the pitot heat is accidentally activated, and tethered sets can be requested. Engine Inlet Plugs are custom-fit for Bell 230 intakes, constructed from heavy-duty vinyl with a single block of sculpted urethane foam that can be removed via zipper for drying. Each plug includes a “Remove Before Flight” streamer and can be imprinted with the aircraft registration number for an additional charge. These plugs—also called cowl plugs, intake plugs, cowl blocks, engine blocks, or engine bungs—can be installed while the engine is still warm, though a storage bag is not included.
Heat Shields and Sun Reflectors:
Heatshields are interior sunshades designed for aircraft windows or canopy glass, made from a unique composite of closed-cell foam with a reflective silver mylar finish. The semi-rigid material is stiff enough to stand inside the windshield using sun visors or window framing and includes darts and folds to fit complex window shapes. Each set folds flat for easy storage in the included sleeve, and some designs may use Velcro or suction cups for installation. Heatshields provide an effective short-term solution for reducing cockpit overheating.
Light Weight Travel Covers:
The Bell 230 Lightweight Travel Bubble Cover mirrors the design of the standard bubble cover but uses a very lightweight Silver Solution-Dyed Polyester fabric that folds compactly for easy storage. Fully lined across the entire cover, the material is water-resistant and ideal for occasional outdoor use, while an ultra-lightweight option is available for fitted hangar dust covers. For daily outdoor protection, the standard Sunbrella Cover remains the best choice.
