The AERO 452-101 is a TSO-certified, panel-mounted carbon monoxide (CO) detector designed specifically for FAA-certified aircraft. Compact and lightweight, it is engineered to minimize panel space requirements while delivering highly accurate, TSO-approved CO detection for the cockpit. The unit also provides cabin pressure altitude warnings and supports external display integration through compatible avionics systems (see approved hardware list).
The high-sensitivity onboard CO sensor continuously monitors carbon monoxide levels and activates alerts when concentrations exceed 50 parts per million (PPM). When CO levels reach 50–99 PPM for a duration of 3–5 minutes, the system triggers an 85 dB audible alarm and flashes an amber warning LED. If CO levels exceed 99 PPM, an audible alert and flashing red LED warning activate immediately upon detection.
An integrated pressure sensor provides altitude-based reminders at 10,000 feet, 12,500 feet, and 14,000 feet, alerting the pilot to the need for supplemental oxygen. These altitude warnings are displayed via an optional external annunciator light.
The AERO 452-101 includes an RS-232 serial interface, enabling CO level data and alerts to be displayed on a wide range of compatible Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Multi-Function Displays (MFDs), and engine monitoring systems. Refer to the approved product list for supported integrations.
Measuring just 2.25 inches by 1.5 inches and weighing only 4.0 ounces, the AERO 452-101 fits easily into a standard instrument panel location. Installation is straightforward and typically completed within 2–4 hours. The unit also supports connection to an external annunciator light (sold separately), providing an additional layer of safety when the detector is not directly within the pilot’s field of view.
